RHS Basketball Captures Title!

The Riverdale Midget Boys' Basketball team captured the Greater Montreal Atheletic Association's Midget title on Thursday, February 25th with a thrilling 73-72 overtime victory over John Rennie High School.  John Rennie headed into the game undefeated in league play this season, but trailed Riverdale throughout the match before tying the game on a three-point shot as the game clock wound down.  Riverdale's Tymal Simpson barely missed a game winning shot as regulation time expired, sending the game into overtime. 

Riverdale prevailed in a back and forth overtime period which saw the lead change hands six times in less than three minutes.  A key three-pointer by Zachary Stacey and a putback by Ian Ostroff had Riverdale ahead by a point with under ten seconds to play.  John Rennie responded with a clutch basket to take the lead before game MVP Reynard Robinson hit two clutch free throws with five seconds showing on the clock to put Riverdale ahead for good.
