Roger Rampersad - Principal
I have been fortunate to work in many schools around the world. After leaving the research and development department of a company, I went off to Japan to teach for a year. It was a paid vacation. I truly enjoyed the interaction with the students, and the opportunity it offered to travel overseas. After that, I taught up north in the Quebec Arctic for few years. That was followed by Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and exotic St. Lambert, Quebec. I have certainly enjoyed the challenges of teaching overseas and in Canada. I presently enjoy being the Principal of Riverdale. The school has so many great things to offer. Of all the schools that I have worked at, Riverdale possesses the most dynamic staff and student body. There is a keen interest in working with the community to enhance and compliment the programs offered at the school. In addition, there is a great interest in “greening” the school. The environmental program at Riverdale is amazing. The aim is to reduce or eliminate waste at the school. The best news this year is the introduction of the Global Leadership Program. Riverdale will embark on a program that will foster the growth of its students to produce leaders in the community with a global perspective. The program also encourages critical thinking and the development of communication skills. The Global Leadership Program, with its emphasis on community outreach, will certainly be an exciting new element to Riverdale.
Debi Dixon - Vice Principal, Secondary I, II, III
Can anything be more thrilling than working with young people? Not for me. What a tremendous opportunity it is to watch students grow and mature right before your eyes, not only physically, but also mentally in their thinking, their conduct and in their ability to make wise and rational decisions. It is an awesome responsibility to have a hand in fostering the development of our students, and this is something I do not take lightly. My desire for them is that they too will not take lightly the importance of having a good education, something that Riverdale prides itself in offering. I am privileged to work alongside passionate teachers and a caring staff who are committed to doing what is necessary to ensure that all students carry out unerringly what our motto decrees: Reach Higher and Succeed. I too am committed to doing my part in making our motto a reality for all of our students. I look forward to what will sure to be an enjoyable year working among the Riverdale community.
